FOCUS ON : Aleksandra Bogdanovic

AB

Tears on the mausoleum floor – Blood stains the coliseum doors – Lies on the lips of a priest – Thanksgiving disguised as a feast – Rollin’ in the Rolls-Royce Corniche – Only the doctors got this, I’m hidin’ from police – Cocaine seats – All white like I got the whole thing bleached – Drug dealer chic/I’m wonderin’ if a thug’s prayers reach – Is Pious pious cause God loves pious? – Socrates asks, “Whose bias do y’all seek?”- All for Plato, screech /I’m out here ballin’, I know y’all hear my sneaks/ Jesus was a carpenter, Yeezy, laid beats – Hova flow the Holy Ghost, get the hell up out your seats – Preach –

I’m sending you my choice of sounds and motion images that inspire me in my work as a photographer and artist. I have need to explain why I choose this in case if it doesn’t make sense or something 🙂

These movies The Tree of Life and Mud represents something that in the future I want to show to the world-young people who are struggling and learning about life from their birth to their death.  There are also two motion images from music video that may not fit completely but reminds me of the other side of the story about youth.

Human beings in a mob                          Will he make it out alive
What’s a mob to a king?                                   All right, all right

What’s a god to a non-believer?                    No church in the wild
Who don’t believe in anything?                     No church in the wild

Lyrics of the song “No Church in the Wild” are constantly makes me wonder, who is to blame today’s problems? Religion, politics, media….and how all of that affects young people in the very early years of their discovering about world around them. What is the reason of their bad decision? Is it our fault as individuals or all of us?

[1]  We capture the world through fragments, then we create them a story and we convince ourselves that we know the land and space we habit. Aleksandra Bogdanovic is twenty years old; we found her work on tumblr coinciding with the serbian flood. Her photographs as our world are a series of interconnected fragments. Her imaginary is full of landscapes (many of them industrial), plants, people’s faces that automatically become friends for the ones looking, sometimes dead animals and kittens.

You can feel in her work a natural inclination, dry ascending trees crashing against the sky, many flowers, but also you find an inclination towards the metal. Metal sheet and rusty poles appear framed in the landscapes she photographs. Moving between wild nature and snapshots of town where the anonymous faces of men and women succeed. Sample of this eclecticism is the fact that National Geographic and Elle have published her work. Aleksandra speaks with visual404 about the sounds and images that influenced her oeuvre and inspire her whole life.” Traducción Visual404.

Nota: Aleksandra Bogdanovic. Student of photography.  National Geographic published her photos (December 2013 and August 2014). Now She is cooperation with serbian fashion designer Dragana Ognjenovic. Her work has been published in ELLE and GRAZIA magazine. You can find her in facebook and tumblr
